Hunting stays

Although this topic is very controversial, we would like to address it in our articles. Hunting is an important industry, and we can accompany you on your hunting trips in Africa. We encounter people who would love to visit South Africa for hunting purposes but have certain reservations about how to fulfill their dream.

But back to the topic. Hunting is not only an important industry but also has significant meaning for global society. Why? Because we can thank farmers, hunters, and gamekeepers for the wildlife we have today, which might have otherwise gone extinct. Those who enjoy this activity are not killers, as many think (unless we are talking about those who engage in it solely for their ego).

In Africa, hunting is so common that a farmer's wife wouldn't be surprised if her five-year-old child comes home covered in blood after helping dad with field dressing the game. And no one would bat an eye at a young child going hunting with their father, with permission to shoot at wildlife. Yes, for outsiders, this may be hard to imagine, but in Africa, it is completely normal. I don't know how it is today, but long ago, in the Czech Republic, there were occasional reports about schoolchildren torturing a cat, dog, or other animal. In Africa, I have never heard of or seen anything like that.

I personally got involved with hunting as a complete beginner. I found it so fascinating that I wrote my bachelor’s thesis on the topic of hunting and wildlife management. So, who is right? Hunters, gamekeepers, or conservationists?

More on that next time...
